Durability behavior of asphalt mixtures in regard to material properties and gradation type

The main objective of this study is to compare the differences between different gradation types mixtures (stone matrix asphalt (SMA), large stone (LSA), concrete (SAC), and superior performing pavements (Superpave)) conventional dense-graded (asphalt (AC)) in terms resistance rutting, moisture damage, low-temperature cracking, water permeability. paper reports a effect binders on performance mixtures. experimental results demonstrated that had significant engineering SMA20, SAC20, LSA30 exhibited lower rutting potential than AC20. In addition, SAC20 larger stripping ratio, while AC13 smaller ratio. displayed largest failure strain, SAC smallest, Superpave ranged SMA SAC. maximum permeability coefficient, followed by SMA20 AC20, Superpave20 smallest. nominal aggregate sizes significantly affected permanent deformation, sensitivity Styrene–butadiene–styrene (SBS)-modified was found improve compared with ordinary asphalt.
